Our Story

In 1996 Christ Methodist Church, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, moved to plant a Preaching Point at Geylang Methodist Secondary School. A small team of forty members, led by our pioneer pastor Rev Vincent Goh began this ministry, worshiping at Wesley Hall. In a way, Christ Methodist Church was going back to its roots, having worshipped at borrowed premises at the Geylang Chinese Methodist Church at Aljunied Road till its move to the present East Coast Road location in 1960. Rev Alvin Chan was the Preaching Point’s interim pastor in 1998 for several months until Rev Nga Mee Hee was appointed.

In 1998 the name Christalite Methodist Chapel was adopted by the congregation. Our logo is a lighthouse – this represents the Chapel bringing the Light of the World to the community in Geylang. The five rays of light issuing from the lighthouse represent our Core Values of “WORDS”:

W (Worship): Honouring God through our worship

O (Outreach): Sharing the Gospel message

R (Relationship): Loving and caring for one another

D (Discipleship): Becoming like Jesus in every way

S (Service): Serving God and the community

In December 2002, we moved our premises to the newly completed Christalite Auditorium at the refurbished Primary School. We want to gratefully acknowledge the roles of the School’s Board of Management and in particular, Miss Mabel Wee, then Principal of the Primary School for their unfailing support and encouragement.

We achieved Local Conference status on 31 July 2005 when a Constituting Conference was held. This was presided over by the then District Superintendent Rev Dr Jonathan Seet. A well-attended Thanksgiving Service was then held giving glory to the Lord.
